I know the image of books is not
something that everyone finds beautiful. While many hate books and find it
torture to have to read one. The thing I find most beautiful about a book is the
authors. Think about it, these books are someone’s story that they get to share
with the world. Weather it is fiction or nonfiction someone wrote it. Books represent
all walks of life because the people that wrote books came from all walks of
life. The Harry Potter series was written by J.K. Rowling. She was someone who was, at the time, a
single mother in England and who needed welfare to support her daughter and
herself. Edgar Allen Poe was an orphan who had to join the military to support himself.
I find it beautiful that so many got to
share their story.
For a book to be a thing of beauty
it must contain a story of some sort. I believe that most stories contain some
lesson that the reader can benefit from. Think about all the books you have read.
For me, my favorites are books are the ones that I have learned something from.
For example, Pride and Prejudice, written by Jane Austen was where I was
confronted by the message that first impressions aren’t always correct. The Hunger
Games, by Suzanne Collins, also had a lesson for me. Though some might doubt that this book has
any deep lesson besides that a bow and arrow is a great weapon to have in the
woods, I saw the lesson that I should be thankful that I live in the country I do.
It caused me to appreciate a place where I am not afraid to speak my mind and
where I am not forced to sign up for a chance to die in order to get food. The
book also shows that life isn’t fair but you cannot just crawl in a ball and
let life occur. You have to fight the
best you can. Even children’s books have a message. Take the book Green Eggs
and Ham authored by Dr. Seuss. The
lesson I discovered in this book is to be brave enough to try new things. You
never know if you will or won’t like it if you never try it. These messages
remind me that not just stories but lessons are shared through books.
Though I find books to be an
unobserved beauty I wasn’t sure if this was what I wanted to choose as my first
blog. I wanted my first post to be
relevant to what this blog assignment means to me. But as I developed my reasoning’s
for choosing books I realized that books were the perfect topic to start out
this blogging adventure with. In a way,
a blog is someone’s book; a place to write the stories and thoughts that fills
your mind. Hopefully, the people that read blogs find themselves learning lesson
that will help them in their life.
Eryn,
ReplyDeleteYour blog was very interesting. I believe words are ridiculously powerful and for books to contain so many words makes it even more powerful. Books have always amazed me. I think your appreciation of books comes from your background. My mother is a librarian and that is where my passion for books has established from. Some people use books as an escape from the real world, and some people just absolutely hate books.
Reading authors' creations include so much potential and imagination. Often times many people forget to appreciate imagination. And I do agree with you books have hidden beauty very few people notice.
Books are so beautiful! I love to read and I can see the beauty in them as you do, Eryn. They are an escape from the real world, even if only for a short time. They can take you to a new world where you don’t have to face any of your own problems, or even discover the answer to those problems. Books have helped me deal with some of my own problems. Though not all people understand the beauty in them that doesn’t mean they aren’t exactly that: beautiful. All of those authors just found a new way to speak to us. It is the similar to how song writers or photographers relay their messages to us. Great blog Eryn!!
ReplyDeleteI think that it is great that you have such a deep fascination with books. Even though your first picture of ordinary books in the library seemed bland at first, I did in the end find the beauty in all that they have to offer. Your message was great, but I can still contest that books are not always the best places to learn lessons. There is just something more that you can get out of actually going out into the world and discovering something that you can pic up and look through your perspective rather than an authors. Although I am not the kind of person to sit for an extended period of time and commit to reading a book, I think that it is great that you can enjoy a book to its full potential. :)
